The Business Problem
Calorie tracking apps are joyless. Users abandon them within weeks because logging food feels like data entry punishment.
The apps that win on engagement — Duolingo, Headspace — use mascots, streaks, and play. Nutrition apps mostly don't. The market has plenty of accurate trackers. It doesn't have ones that people actually keep using. Retention, not accuracy, is the unsolved problem in nutrition apps.
