How many orders do you get per month?
FREE · 5 QUESTIONS · NOTHING SAVED UNTIL YOU ASK
Why abandoned carts are the cheapest revenue you are not collecting
An abandoned cart is a shopper who picked your product, entered your checkout, and stopped. You have already paid to acquire them. Recovering that sale costs a fraction of finding a new customer, which is why the return on a recovery flow is usually higher than the return on more ad spend.
This calculator works out the gap between what your store currently recovers and what a proper multi-channel flow would. It takes your monthly orders and average order value, your abandonment rate, and what recovery you run today, then shows the difference in revenue per month. A single recovery email is better than nothing, but it captures a small share of what a sequenced flow across email, SMS and on-site prompts does.
The number the calculator returns is recoverable revenue, not total abandoned value. Some shoppers were never going to buy. The realistic target is the segment that abandoned for a fixable reason: an unexpected shipping cost, a slow checkout, a payment method you do not offer, or simply a distraction at the wrong moment.
Questions people ask about this calculator
What counts as a recoverable cart?
A shopper who reached checkout with items and left without paying, where the reason was friction rather than intent. Price-checkers and accidental adds are not recoverable, which is why the estimate applies a recovery rate rather than counting the full abandoned value.
Why does multi-channel recover more than email alone?
Because a single email is one attempt at one moment in one inbox. Adding SMS and on-site prompts gives you several chances across different contexts, and each channel reaches people the others miss. Timing matters more than message volume.
Does this work on my platform?
The arithmetic is the same whether you are on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or something custom. What changes is the integration work, since each platform exposes checkout events differently.
Will recovery messages annoy my customers?
They do if the sequence is long, generic, and discount-led from the first message. A flow that leads with the practical reason someone stopped, such as shipping cost or a payment option, and stops when they do not respond, generally does not.
How long before a recovery flow pays for itself?
That depends on your order volume. The calculator gives you a monthly recoverable figure, which is the number to weigh against the cost of building the flow. High-volume stores usually see it inside the first month.
